The Asphalt Roofing Manufacturers Association (ARMA) has announced that submissions are now open for the 2026 Excellence in Asphalt Roofing Awards Program. Roofing contractors across North America can submit their top low- and steep-slope asphalt roofing projects completed within the past three years, with a submission deadline of December 1, 2025.

"ARMA's awards program celebrates the talent and innovation within the roofing industry," said Reed Hitchcock, ARMA executive vice president. "Year after year, we see incredible projects that reinforce asphalt roofing's position as the trusted solution for both residential and commercial applications."

The program provides contractors with a platform to showcase their work, strengthen their professional reputation, and demonstrate their expertise in asphalt roofing. Participation is free of charge, and contractors may submit multiple entries.

Judging Criteria and Process

A panel of experienced judges will evaluate submissions based on four key criteria: why asphalt was chosen as the roofing solution, project challenges overcome, what makes the project distinctive, and aesthetic appeal or technical complexity.

Projects with the highest scores will receive Gold ($2,000), Silver ($1,000), or Bronze ($500) medals. Additionally, judges may recommend projects for Best-in-Class Categories, including:

  • In the Neighborhood - Showcasing affordable homes with elevated style through color and design choices
  • Commercial/Mixed Use - Focusing on complex flat roof projects with multiple integrated components
  • Craftsmanship - Recognizing artistry in complex structures like steeples, turrets, and large flat roofing projects exceeding 1,000 squares
  • Technical Difficulty - Emphasizing operational challenges such as multiple penetrations, nighttime work, or extreme weather conditions

Winner Benefits

Beyond monetary prizes, all winning companies receive an official ARMA certificate, promotional materials, trade media exposure, and features on ARMA's website and social media platforms. Winners will also be recognized at the 2026 International Roofing Expo.

Contractors interested in submitting projects can find complete guidelines and submission information at asphaltroofing.org/excellence.
