GAF, one of North America’s largest roofing and waterproofing manufacturers, joined forces with Habitat for Humanity in Wichita, Kan., last month to help provide a new roof for a local family in need.
GAF announced in a news release that employees nationwide, including the Center for the Advancement of Roofing Excellence (CARE) team, volunteered to assist Habitat staff with essential home repairs like roof and siding replacement, deck repair, and new gutter installation.
GAF provided all roofing materials for the project.
The roof recipient, Mr. Griffin, has lived in his Wichita home since 1971. He lives with his wife, who has dementia, a son and several grandchildren.
For years, Mr. Griffin faced significant challenges with his home’s condition, most notably a threatened insurance cancellation due to the state of his roof.
“We look forward to getting these repairs done on our home,” Griffin shared. “We know these repairs will make our lives better.”
Because GAF and Wichita Habitat for Humanity committed to replacing his roof, Mr. Griffin anticipates he’ll be able to maintain his insurance coverage, allowing him and his family to stay in their home and community of more than 50 years.
This work is part of GAF’s social impact initiative, GAF Community Matters, which is focused on positively impacting our community by leveraging roofing expertise and resources to build resilience.
GAF recently announced plans to build a state-of-the-art shingle factory that will create new, good-paying jobs and support the greater Newton, Kansas, area through meaningful community involvement.
Construction of the facility is expected to begin this summer, with production anticipated to begin in 2027 and reach full production capacity by mid-2029.
