RC: What are the top reasons why the company is still successful and how do you explain its longevity?

CC: Great employees, loyal customers and excellent service. We focus on our customer’s needs whether it’s new, re-roof or service. And because we work with so many manufacturers we can always provide what they want.

 

RC: What are the challenges in your market and how have you overcome them?

CC: The challenges in the market are a direct result of the number of competitors. Many of them specialize in a particular type of roofing system or product and they have become very proficient at it. I’m not sure we’ve overcome these situations, but we offer various alternatives that might be a better fit for their particular roofing problem or application.

 

RC:What are the advantages/disadvantages to being a company with such a long tradition?

CC:        

Advantages:

• Widely diverse customer base                           
• Great reputation for quality                                                    
• People trust your longevity
• Progressive thinkers and problem solvers

Disadvantages:

• Perception that you are old school
• Perception that you are not in touch with today’s technology

 

RC: What does having a 100-year history mean to you and your employees?

CC: It’s a remarkable accomplishment that provides great employment opportunities in these uncertain and ever-changing times. It also shows that we truly care about our employees and their families.

 

RC: What advice do have to current or future roofing contractors that might only dream of being in business for a century?

CC: It’s no longer just a family business. But it’s a great business and we run it like a business!
