Federal investigations into a fatal work injury resulted in proposed penalties of more than $522,000 for a New York-based roofing contractor after a worker fell to their death in April.
According to a release from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration [OSHA], Elite Roofing Services Inc. in Huntington, N.Y. was working at a Glen Cove worksite on April 14, 2023. Investigators determined employees were installing metal decking on a flat industrial roof at Garvies Point Road when a worker fell through an opening to a concrete floor nearly 20 feet below.
