Metallic Authorized Builders Recognized in 2021 MBCEA Building of the Year Awards

HOUSTON, Texas — Metallic Building Systems has a lot to celebrate and be proud of in 2021. The company is celebrating its 75th anniversary, honoring its history and saluting builders for decades of loyalty and collaboration. And now, there’s a new reason to celebrate: Metallic builders took home four of the nine Metal Building Contractors and Erectors Association (MBCEA) Building of the Year awards.

The winners were chosen based on aesthetics, extraordinary features, craftsmanship, complexity, and green building elements. Below are the Metallic builders and the projects that took home a prize.

Education and Recreation Category – Award of Excellence

Builder: Crossland Construction Company, Inc.

Project: Washburn University Indoor Athletic Facility – Topeka, Kan.

Washburn University’s new indoor athletic facility is an absolute touchdown for the university. The new facility includes a football practice field, batting cages, a track and training room. Crossland Construction Company Inc. was the general contractor and metal building erector for the project.

Manufacturing and Warehouse Category – Award of Merit

Builder: BARNES buildings & management group

Project: Millstone Medical – Fall River, Mass.

Millstone Medical Outsourcing, a leading provider of customized outsourcing solutions to the medical device industry, embarked on a facility expansion of its Massachusetts headquarters back in October 2019. The expansion includes additional space for mechanical inspections, warehousing and packaging and kitting space. Metallic supported BARNES buildings & management group to provide a metal building solution for Millstone Medical.

Manufacturing and Warehouse – Award of Excellence

Builder: BARNES buildings & management group

Project: SRC Medical – Hanover, Mass.

SRC Medical specializes in molding high-quality plastics for top medical and pharmaceutical companies. BARNES buildings & management group erected a 40,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art facility that provides much needed extra manufacturing and storage space.

Specialty Buildings – Award of Excellence

Builder: Trident Construction

Project: Firefly Distillery – North Charleston, S.C.

While Metallic specializes in providing no-frills projects for builders, they are ready to answer the call whenever a unique, custom building is needed. That’s exactly what Firefly Distillery in North Charleston, S.C. needed to replicate the small, quaint feel of their original distillery on a larger scale using stronger materials. Trident Construction and Metallic provided Firefly with a truly stunning building that they can be proud of for decades to come.

Matt Ackley, Cornerstone Building Brands’ president of buildings, expressed Metallic’s pride in providing builders with the products they need to deliver signature work.
