The portable, hand-operated PosiTest Air Leak Tester is an effective, efficient, and affordable testing system designed to pinpoint the locations of leaks in air barriers, waterproofing, and roofing systems as a diagnostic tool on existing buildings, or while construction is underway for new structures.

It’s designed for use on single and two-ply membranes, coatings applied to concrete, liquid applied membranes, sprayed polyurethane foam, board stock, exterior insulation and finish systems (EIFS), and EPDM roofing systems. It provides a localized assessment of the continuity of coating, roofing, and membrane installation, including transitions, in compliance with ASTM E1186, Air Leakage Site Detection in Building Envelopes and Air Barrier Systems.

The detector is of value to many parties in the building trade including roofing contractors, waterproofing contractors, masonry contractors, painting contractors, EIFS installers, architects, engineers, consultants, and building commissioning agents.

“We are pleased to offer this product to the building community as a quick and simple way to identify air and water leaks in existing buildings, and for examining the installation of roofing and air barriers real time during construction,” said KTA President Ken Trimber. “It helps you to determine the installation practices that are working and the ones that are not, so that immediate changes can be made.” The alternative is whole building testing, which makes individual leaks more challenging to find and more costly to repair.
