March 30, 2015

Garden Roof Planning Guide • American Hydrotech

Hydrotech’s Garden Roof® Planning Guide covers everything from technology and materials, proper planning and design to installation and maintenance. Readers can take an in-depth look at the modern world’s environmental challenges and the role of sustainable design in providing green solutions. They can also learn about the American Hydrotech Garden Roof Assembly and its benefits, including economic incentives and environmental factors like rainwater management. Now in its third edition, the Garden Roof Planning Guide is designed to unlock American Hydrotech’s knowledge on vegetative roofs. The planning guide is also available as an app, which can be downloaded by searching American Hydrotech in the iOS App Store. For more information, visit www.hydrotechusa.com/GRPG.

Green Roof System • FiberTite

FiberTite Roofing Systems has introduced FiberTite Green™ Roof System, an environmentally friendly vegetative roofing system. Using FiberTite’s high-performance single-ply roofing membrane, the system provides a vegetative roof technology based on sustainable functions that help manage the quality and quantity of rainwater, increase energy savings and reduce air and water pollution. It’s offered in either a tray or multilayer system. For more information, visit www.fibertite.com.

Pregrown Modular System • Firestone Building Products

Firestone Building Products offers a new SkyScape™ Pregrown Modular System as part of its SkyScape Vegetative Roof System Portfolio. The system’s unique engineered design manages rainwater through unitized moisture retention reservoirs and encourages airflow beneath the modules. That airflow passes through a 1.75-inch vertical space created by the reservoirs. Built on a foundation of a 100 percent-recycled, high-density polypropylene, the unit’s honeycomb design allows for moisture and nutrients to be shared between modules. For more information, visit http://firestonebpco.com/roofing/accessories/skyscape-  vegetative-roof-systems/skyscape-pregrown-modular-system/.

Green Roof Systems • Flex Membrane International Corp.

Flex Membrane International Corp. and ZinCo USA have partnered to bring high-performing green roof systems to the commercial roofing industry. Flex has been committed to manufacturing high-quality Elvaloy KEE, PVC and TPO roofing products for more than 25 years, while Zinco has provided leadership and innovation in green-roof systems since 1957. The partnership has resulted in locally supplied, high-quality and environmentally smart solutions; systems tailored to suit each roof; designs to meet every budget; lightweight, durable green-roof systems to imitate the beauty of nature; and edge-to-edge, long-term, single-source warranties. For more information, visit www.flexroofingsystems.com.

Modular Vegetative Roof System • The Garland Company

Garland’s GreenShield® Module vegetative roof systems offer the versatility and convenience of modularized vegetative containers. Taking advantage of special lightweight soils and plant materials, these industrial-strength modules can be readily rearranged or removed, providing considerable aesthetic flexibility as well as ready access to the underlying roof for maintenance. The modules are specifically designed to facilitate irrigation and drainage, and they can be landscaped with flourishing vegetation in advance of roof installation. For more information, visit www.garlandco.com.

Vegetative Roof Systems • Johns Manville

Johns Manville PVC with DuPont™ Elvaloy® KEE is roofing material engineered to withstand the test of time, even under some of the toughest conditions. JM PVC roofing membranes are long-term solutions for roofs that demand high performance at a lower life-cycle cost. For vegetative roofs, vector-mapping mesh is installed in adhesive over polyiso, followed by a fully adhered JM PVC 80-mil membrane with DuPont Elvaloy KEE and loose-laid JM TPO 45-mil membrane as a slip sheet under GreenGrid® (trademark of American Builders Contractors Supply Co. Inc.) pre-vegetated extensive roof system. For more information, visit www.jm.com/roofing.

Green Roof Waterproofing Membrane • Sika Sarnafil

Performance over time is a true test of a waterproofing system’s quality. Sarnafil-brand membranes have been waterproofing green roofs and other landscaped areas across Europe for more than 50 years and in the United States for more than 40 years. The Sarnafil G476 membrane is specially designed for sub-grade environments and is compounded to remain watertight in extreme conditions, including constant dampness, ponding water, high and low alkaline conditions, and exposure to plant roots, fungi and bacterial organisms. The company has more than 15 billion square feet of roofing and waterproofing membrane installed worldwide. For more information, visit usa.sarnafil.sika.com.
