PRESCOTT, Ariz. — The Arizona Roofing Contractors Association (ARCA) held its 44th Annual Convention and Trade Show at the Prescott Resort in Prescott, Ariz. Association members made the most of their time in the mountains, engaging in golf, sporting clays and horseshoes tournaments, as well as attending the convention and trade show and educational seminars. The educational sessions were well attended this year. Larry Tate from Johns Manville gave an informative presentation on techniques and knowledge needed to properly install substrate, fasteners, decks and base plies, insulation, roof membranes, flashing, and other construction considerations when using SBS modified bitumen roofing systems in Arizona’s environment. Eric Petrie from Petrie & Venditti gave a presentation on contract law, and attendees learned how to avoid common pitfalls, identify favorable contract clauses, and minimize the risk of future litigation.
To complement the convention’s theme of “Mystery on the Mountain,” the convention committee added a new twist this year and put on a weekend-long murder mystery game based on the board game Clue. Different clues were offered at each event during the three days of activities, and attendees tried to solve the case by determining the killer, murder weapon, and location.
