ATLANTA Jasper Contractors Inc. has announced that Peter Mellett was recently named its chief financial officer.

“As Jasper continues to grow and extend its service footprint, we need a seasoned financial leader to manage our upward growth trek and ensure sound business decisions,” said Owner and CEO Brian Wedding.“Though it is an anomaly for a roofing contractor to hire for such a position, we feel our business model requires the strategic oversight only a skilled CFO can provide.”

In his role with Jasper, Mellett is responsible for strategic financial planning; oversight of M&A agreements; treasury and cash flow management; budgeting; financial forecasting; risk management assessment; and communication to external stakeholders, among other key duties.

“Jasper is part of an industry that has and will continue to expand, and I look forward to serving as CFO for this well-established, national company,” Mellett said.

According to industry researcher Freedonia Group, U.S. roofing demand will rise 5.7 percent annually through 2015 with residential reroofing remaining the largest segment. Jasper’s annual revenue alone from 2009 to 2012 has seen a nearly 100-percent increase, from $22 million to $42 million.

A 20-plus year industry veteran, Mellett most recently served as CFO for Progressive Lighting Inc. He was previously treasurer/assistant vice president of financial planning and analysis for Floor and Décor Outlets of America; director of financial planning and analysis for After Hours Formalwear; and budget analyst for Atlanta Southeast Airlines. He earned his bachelor’s degree in finance from Seton Hall University and an MBA from Kennesaw State.
