LAS VEGAS — Commercial Roofers Inc. recently awarded its annual scholarship to Alex Klenk, a fourth-year architecture student at University of Nevada, Las Vegas.

Scholarship

Commercial Roofers established the scholarship program with the university in 1997, giving an annual scholarship of $1,000 to a deserving third- or fourth-year architectural studies student for the past 10 years. In 2008, the scholarship program was renewed with the annual amount increased to $1,500 for the next 10 years.

Commercial Roofers believes in giving back to the industry by providing this scholarship in conjunction with a classroom presentation to help teach the importance of proper and workable roof system designs to future architects.

“The whole reason for the program is to raise awareness of how important roofing systems are in the architecture, instead of just glossing over it,” said Principal Dennis Conway.
