Malarkey Roofing Company, Portland, Ore., announced the issuance of the patent for its exclusive shingle design known as “The Zone.” The technology offers a larger nailing area — up to three times larger than the older style laminated shingle.
Gregory Malarkey, senior vice president, and Bill Allinger, president of the company, both the designers of “The Zone,” thought of roofers when creating the design. “After looking at laminate shingle installation we realized we had to do something to help the roofer, improper installation invalidates the warranty and could significantly reduce the life of the roof,” said Malarkey.
