Hyer Family Acquires Warrior Roofing Manufacturing
Acquisition brings family with decades of roofing industry experience back into the market

The Hyer family has acquired Warrior Roofing, a Tuscaloosa, Ala.-based manufacturer of asphalt roofing underlayments and distributor of synthetic underlayments and house wraps. The family announced the acquisition Oct. 1. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
"Our family has had a long legacy in the roofing and waterproofing markets, and this is a great opportunity to return to our roots," said Sean Hyer. "Duane Cunningham built Warrior Roofing to be a leader in shingle underlayments, and we are proud to be taking ownership of such an exceptional organization."
Hyer said Warrior will continue supplying roofing underlayments while pursuing new products designed to address contractors' changing needs.
Founded in 1978, Warrior Roofing manufactures asphalt roofing felts at facilities in Tuscaloosa and Chambersburg, Pa., and distributes additional underlayment products throughout the United States.
The acquisition marks the Hyer family's return to the roofing industry, with more than 50 years of market experience. The family previously owned roofing and waterproofing product companies APOC, Gardner-Gibson and Sun Coatings before selling those businesses in 2020.
