Roofing Industry Donates $400K to Expand Ronald McDonald House
Roofing Alliance members provided labor and materials for an Oklahoma City expansion expected to add more than 10,000 family stays annually

Members of the Roofing Alliance supplied roofing materials and installation labor for the 28-bedroom Ronald McDonald House expansion.
The roofing industry contributed approximately $400,000 in materials, labor and expertise to help expand Ronald McDonald House Oklahoma City, completing a project expected to significantly increase the nonprofit's capacity to serve families with children receiving medical treatment.
Members of the Roofing Alliance supplied roofing materials and installation labor for the 28-bedroom Ronald McDonald House expansion. The donations helped the organization complete construction over the summer without reducing the project's scope or delaying the work, according to the Alliance.
The project was recognized during a donor reception and ribbon-cutting ceremony in September.
Once fully operational, the expanded House is expected to provide an additional 10,220 nights of lodging annually and save families an estimated $1.03 million each year, according to Susan Adams, CEO of Ronald McDonald House Oklahoma City.
The facility is expected to serve families from more than 70 of Oklahoma's 77 counties and expand service to families whose children are receiving treatment at three additional partner hospitals in the Oklahoma City metropolitan area.
"This House will serve families the donors may never meet, facing some of the most difficult moments of their lives," Adams said. "Thanks to the Roofing Alliance, these families will have a place of comfort, proximity, and hope to support their child during treatment."
Roofing Companies Rally Around Expansion
The project brought together roofing contractors and manufacturers to provide the different components needed for the roof assembly.
Supreme Roofing of Dallas donated all roofing labor for the project. Adams said the construction team was impressed with the contractor's professionalism, efficiency, and strong commitment to safety, resulting in Supreme being added to the construction manager's bid list for future projects.
ATAS International supplied the metal panels used on the expanded House, while GAF provided upgraded shingles following a last-minute change needed to comply with requirements of the owners association where the facility is located.
Georgia-Pacific donated roof cover board, including a recently introduced hail-resistant product manufactured at its Oklahoma plant.
IB Roof Systems supplied the PVC membrane, marking the fifth Ronald McDonald House project to receive a donated IB roof.
Johns Manville supplied the roof insulation, which the organization said will also help reduce future energy costs.
"Giving back is a core part of who we are," said Joe Smith, president of Johns Manville Roofing Systems. "Through our long-standing relationships with NRCA and the Roofing Alliance, we're proud to help support projects that strengthen communities and serve families during challenging times."
Industry Partnership Continues
Ronald McDonald House Oklahoma City also recognized William Good, retired CEO of the National Roofing Contractors Association and senior advisor to the Roofing Alliance-Ronald McDonald House partnership, for coordinating the donations.
Adams said Good volunteered his time and industry expertise to bring the participating companies together and called his leadership instrumental in completing the gift.
The Oklahoma City project is part of the Roofing Alliance's broader relationship with Ronald McDonald House programs. The Alliance, which includes more than 210 roofing industry members, supports initiatives involving education, research, workforce development and philanthropy.
"The Roofing Alliance and its contributors can take great pride in the impact of their support," Adams said. "Their gesture of humanity will be deeply felt and long remembered by the families served by RMH-OKC."
