QXO Volunteers Help Repair Smyrna Senior’s Home
Rebuilding Together Atlanta partnership brings siding, safety improvements to longtime resident

QXO volunteers, Rebuilding Together Atlanta representatives and community partners gather in Smyrna, Ga., during a Sept. 25 home repair project for longtime resident Lucilma Rengifo.
QXO employees joined Rebuilding Together Atlanta in Smyrna, Ga., on Sept. 25 to repair the home of 75-year-old Lucilma Rengifo, a longtime resident.
The volunteer project at Rengifo's home included exterior repairs and other safety improvements that will allow her to remain there. QXO provided financial and in-kind support, including siding to replace deteriorated material.
The project also marked the culmination of an effort that Smyrna Ward 5 Councilmember Susan Wilkinson began pursuing in 2019. Seven years later, Wilkinson saw the work move forward in 2026.
Rengifo has lived in the same Smyrna home for 32 years and previously received a new roof through the City of Smyrna Senior Home Repair program in 2024. Retired and living on a limited fixed income, she lacked the resources to complete additional repairs that were needed at the property.
QXO's support builds on that earlier roofing work. Contractors were scheduled to replace rotted and missing siding and provide pest-control services, while volunteers tackled projects including deteriorated deck boards, exterior painting, landscaping, smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, a fire extinguisher and other repairs.
The improvements are intended to address safety hazards and allow Rengifo to continue aging in place near her daughter, grandchildren, neighbors and church community.
"I couldn't do it without your help," Rengifo said. "It means the world to me that people are kind and selfless enough to give their time to help a stranger who needs it most."
Rebuilding Together Atlanta works with homeowners, volunteers and corporate partners on repairs intended to help older adults, veterans and other homeowners remain safely in their homes. The organization reported completing 79 projects across 44 homes and five community sites in 2025.
