GAF and Optimum Roofing are partnering to install a new roofing system on the White City Community Centre in Saskatchewan, Canada, helping preserve a public facility that houses a library, museum and municipal offices.

The project will provide the community center with a complete roofing system and warranty. Optimum Roofing, a Regina-based GAF Master Elite contractor, is leading the installation.

The White City Community Centre has served the area since 1991 and hosts a range of community programs, including fitness and educational activities. The building also houses the White City Public Library and White Butte Museum.

“Optimum Roofing had been actively searching for a meaningful opportunity to donate a new roof and give back to the community that has supported us,” said Derek Carson of Optimum Roofing. “When we learned that the White City Community Centre, located right in our own backyard, was in need of a roof replacement, we knew it was the perfect fit.”

The White City Public Library, part of the Southeast Regional Library system, has operated in the community since 1993. Programs include book clubs, preschool storytime, crochet club and language classes.

“Maintaining safe, accessible, and well-maintained public facilities is a priority for our community,” said Ruchelle Himmelspeck, manager of parks, recreation and culture for the Town of White City. “This project represents an important investment in preserving the facility for years to come.”

GAF said the project is part of its GAF Community Matters initiative, which supports community resilience through donated roofing materials, expertise and related resources.
