Reed Minerals Acquires U.S. Minerals
Reed said the acquisition is expected to improve regional customer coverage and provide more flexibility in procurement, logistics and production planning

Reed Minerals has completed its acquisition of U.S. Minerals, expanding its geographic reach and portfolio of mineral abrasives used in roofing, surface preparation and other industrial applications.
The combined company will offer coal slag, copper slag and other mineral abrasive products in bulk, bag and supersack formats through a broader network of processing, packaging and distribution facilities. Reed said the acquisition is expected to improve regional customer coverage and provide more flexibility in procurement, logistics and production planning.
Reed has established an integration program intended to combine the companies while maintaining service continuity. The announcement did not disclose financial terms.
The acquisition follows Reed’s appointment of Mike Kozak as chief executive officer earlier this year. Kozak previously served as a business unit president at Minerals Technologies Inc. and was selected to lead Reed’s next phase of growth.
Reed is a portfolio company of Detroit-based private equity firm Speyside Equity.
