NRCA Safety Leader Cheryl Ambrose Dies at 63
The longtime NRCA safety leader is remembered for strengthening industry outreach and championing worker health and welfare
Cheryl Merryman Ambrose, a longtime construction safety professional who recently retired as the National Roofing Contractors Association’s vice president of enterprise risk management, died July 15 following a short illness. She was 63.
Ambrose devoted her career to construction safety and risk management, helping strengthen NRCA’s worker-safety outreach, training and resources. She earned a bachelor’s degree in occupational safety and health from Columbia Southern University, graduating magna cum laude in 2015, and held multiple construction and occupational safety certifications. She retired from NRCA in June.
“Her commitment to the health and welfare of the industry’s workers was tremendous and unwavering,” NRCA said in announcing her death. The association also remembered Ambrose as a kind and caring friend whose decades of service improved safety for workers and families across multiple industries.
Ambrose, a resident of Reedville, Va., is survived by her husband, Jeffery Ambrose, and other family members. A graveside service is scheduled for Aug. 1 at Fawn Grove Community Church in Fawn Grove, Pa.
