Elevate Releases LEED v5 Guide for Roofing Projects
Resource links roofs to LEED v5 credits

Elevate has released a LEED v5 Credit Guide designed to help architects, designers and builders understand how roofing systems can contribute to earning credits under the U.S. Green Building Council’s updated LEED certification framework.
The guide is among the first roofing-focused resources developed for LEED v5, which shifts the certification program’s emphasis toward measurable building performance. LEED v4 and v4.1 project registrations are scheduled to sunset June 30, 2027.
According to Elevate, the guide explains how roofing systems can support credits across multiple LEED v5 categories, including Integrative Process, Sustainable Sites, Water Efficiency, Energy and Atmosphere, Materials and Resources, Indoor Environmental Quality, and Project Priorities.
The resource also highlights the role of roofing in advancing LEED v5 goals related to climate action, quality of life, ecological conservation and restoration.
As demand grows for energy-intensive facilities such as data centers, roofing performance is becoming increasingly important for managing thermal transfer and reducing peak energy demand. Elevate said reflective membranes, high-R-value insulation and airtight detailing can help lower operational carbon emissions and support LEED v5 objectives.
“LEED v5 raises the bar for sustainability expectations across all entities involved in a building, including the specifier and manufacturer,” said Sherrie MacWilliams, senior sustainability manager for Amrize Building Envelope. “The Elevate LEED v5 credit guide equips project teams to connect roofing specification decisions to measurable certification outcomes.”
