Skyline Donates Roof to Injured Army Veteran
North Carolina project aids wounded veteran

U.S. Army veteran Grady Bendel, left, stands with Skyline Exterior Group Managing Member Brian Rice at Bendel’s North Carolina home, where Skyline and GAF provided a donated roof installation.
A North Carolina contractor has completed a free roof installation for a U.S. Army veteran injured during deployment in Afghanistan.
Skyline Exterior Group donated labor for the project, while roofing manufacturer GAF supplied materials for the home of Grady Bendel, who lost his leg following an improvised explosive device strike.
The company identified Bendel through Veterans Bridge Home, a nonprofit that connects veterans with community resources and support services.
The effort is part of Skyline Exterior Group’s initiative to provide a full roof replacement to a veteran or first responder for every 100 roofs the company sells.
The project is part of GAF’s Community Matters, a social impact initiative launched in 2020 to strengthen communities by leveraging roofing expertise, products, and employee volunteerism. The initiative focuses on disaster recovery, providing safe shelter, and building community resilience by partnering with nonprofits and donating roofing materials for repairs
