Martin Roofing & Solar to Showcase Award-Winning Solar Mount at IRE
Company highlights DOE-recognized Hidden-Fastener Solar Mount and new Dual-Channel Solar Rail designed to improve rooftop solar integration at IRE.

Martin Solar's Hidden Fastener Solar Mount is designed for asphalt shingle and composite slate roofs, eliminating the need to create holes in the roofing. Unlike typical mounts that penetrate all layers, HFSM is installed beneath the roofing layer and attaches to the traditional nail strip.

Martin Roofing & Solar will highlight two proprietary solar innovations designed to better integrate roofing and rooftop solar systems. The company will be exhibiting at booth TT-4781, where attendees can see the Hidden-Fastener Solar Mount (HFSM) alongside its first proprietary accessory, the Dual-Channel Solar Rail (DCSR).
The DCSR distinguishes itself in the rooftop solar market as the only rail engineered with a dedicated wire-management trough. This design eliminates the need for zip-ties and ensures that conductor cables never come into contact with the roof surface, addressing long-standing durability and safety concerns for roof-mounted solar installations.
Martin’s HFSM has already earned national recognition. The novel solar attachment, designed for asphalt and synthetic slate roofs, installs within shingle courses and anchors at the traditional nail strip beneath the shingle. By sealing under the shingle above, the system avoids drilling holes through shingles, offering what the company describes as a true solar-and-roof integration. The design was awarded by the U.S. Department of Energy through its Solar Prize competition, a milestone previously covered by RC.
Momentum for the HFSM continues to build, as the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office has recently approved the patent filing for the solar mount, with the official award letter expected soon. The Dual-Channel Solar Rail is currently patent-pending, with additional proprietary products in development.
Attendees at IRE can learn more about both innovations and their applications by visiting Martin Roofing & Solar at booth TT-4781.
