Robert "Bruce" McCrory, co-founder and secretary/treasurer of Kiker Corp., Mobile, Ala., and technical director for Nations Roof of Mobile, died unexpectedly on Nov. 30. He was 72.

McCrory attended the University of Mississippi and graduated from the University of South Alabama. He supported his alma mater, the University of South Alabama, as a past president and life member of the National Alumni Association. Throughout the years, he served in many other roles for the university, including the Mitchell College of Business Executive Advisory Council, the Mitchell Learning Resource Center Steering Committee and Campaign USA Leadership Team. The school recognized him in 2008 with the Distinguished Alumni Award. 

In addition to his roofing career, McCrory served in multiple roles with the National Roofing Contractors Association (NRCA). He was president from 2012-13, chairman of the board-elect from 2011-12, vice chairman from 2006-08 and 2009-11, and as director from 1998-99 and 2004-09. He was also a member of various committees, serving as chair of the Affiliate Relations Committee, Budget and Finance Committee, Manual Update Committee and Technical Operations Committee, as well as director of the National Roofing Service Corp.

In 2017, McCrory received the NRCA's J.A. Piper Award, the association's most prestigious honor, for his service to the NRCA and the roofing industry.

Outside of roofing, he served as a volunteer public information officer for the Mobile County Emergency Management Agency since 1977 and received the Director's Award for his service from former FEMA Director General Julius Becton, Jr. in 1986. Additionally, he was a finalist for the State of Alabama's Governor's Award in 1991.
