The Florida roofing industry is mourning the loss of Les Gory, who passed with his family in his home on Monday, Sept. 30 at the age of 75. He was a loving husband to his wife of 53 years, Dallas, and together they raised three sons.

A native to Miami, Gory began his career in roofing as a young boy, working at the original Gory Roof Tile Plant in Miami. Gory, the Gory family, Gory Associated Industries, Inc. and Gory Roof Tile, were active in the Florida Roofing and Sheet Metal Association (FRSA) and promoted the benefits of membership to all. The FRSA states the Gory family was responsible for bringing in more new members than anyone for many years. Gory was a recipient of the FRSA’s 1980 Campanella Award, its highest honor.

When Gory Roof Tile was sold, Gory started G & S Building Supply and then became a manufacturer’s representative under Roof Tech Sales Corp., where he retired.

Gory will be remembered by his peers in the roofing industry as a legend because of his inspirational work ethic, selflessness and the personal touch he brought into every situation. He was a strong believer in the importance of investing in people and always proud of their accomplishments. He cherished being a mentor and was willing to impart his years of experience to all.

Gory is survived by his wife Dallas and his three sons, James, Michael and Christopher.

Condolences can be sent to the Gory family at 14828 Breckness Place, Miami Lakes, Fla. 33016-6410. The family has asked that in lieu of flowers to please provide a charitable donation to Cure PSP at www.psp.org.
