DALLAS - Richard R. Kaller, president of the Certified Contractors Network (CCN), passed away April 24 at the age of 60. A former director of the National Roofing Contractors Association (NRCA), he served as the chair of NRCA's Steep Roofing Committee.

Born in Camden, N.J., Kaller grew up with eight siblings in Wyndmoor, Pa., and attended Temple and Villanova Universities. In 1964, he went to work with his father as a roofing contractor. Over the next 30 years, he acquired five established roofing companies in the Philadelphia area. His work encompassed all types of roofing projects, from small residential jobs to million dollar commercial projects.

After 30 years of operating his own company, Kaller set out to share what he had learned with other roofers by creating Contractors Educational Services. He developed a training program and lecture series for small and mid-size home improvement contractors, and his work as a professional trainer of contractors included speaking at national trade conventions and creating the popular training audiocassettes "Time Out" and "Better Jobs." He went on to found CCN, which provides low-cost, hands-on consulting and networking between noncompeting contractors.

He is survived by his wife, Gail Patricia McNeill. Memorial contributions may be made to the Richard R. Kaller Contractor Education Foundation, c/o Contractors Educational Services, 134 Sibley Ave., Ardmore, PA 19003.
