Rebuild America recently presented Sarnafil Inc., Canton, Mass., with the “2002 Energy Champion Award for Business Partner of the Year.” Rebuild America, a program created by the U.S. Department of Energy, is a network of nearly 500 partnerships dedicated to improving building performance, reducing air pollution and enhancing the quality of life through energy efficiency.

Sarnafil was recognized for its successes in helping communities save energy. As a Rebuild America business partner, the company has helped educate community leaders on the energy saving benefits of reflective roofing through a wide variety of special programs. For example, Sarnafil co-sponsored a Rebuild America roofing and lighting program in Arizona and Michigan, participated in seven peer forums throughout the nation, and provided technical assistance on roofing and building envelopes to other Rebuild America business partners. Sarnafil also provided presentations for use by community members and school officials in their efforts to bring energy efficiency to the forefront.

Sarnafil estimates it has installed more than 3 million square feet of white reflective roofing for Rebuild America community partnerships, which will save building owners between 10 and 30 percent in cooling costs.
