Corn-Based Roof Renewal Breaks New Ground

Colorbiotics and Roof Rejuvenate USA introduce a natural, chemical-free solution to restore aging asphalt shingles.

Colorbiotics, a Sika company, has partnered with Roof Rejuvenate USA to offer a product engineered to restore aging asphalt shingles. The solution is corn-based, free from harsh chemicals and capable of extending the life of roofs on homes, apartment complexes and businesses.

Roof Rejuvenate is a bio-based asphalt shingle rejuvenator, not a coating or sealant. It penetrates the shingle to restore lost oils, improve flexibility, and extend its service life. Roof Rejuvenate features natural corn oil as the primary ingredient and works down to the molecular level of shingles to restore flexibility and increase grit retention lost naturally over time.

“This new product provides consumers clarity in their roof restoration process,” said Kent Rotert, vice president of Colorbiotics. “Roof Rejuvenate is the answer.”

What customers won’t find in Roof Rejuvenate are methyl esters, a component found in similar products that break down the bonds within the oil and alter its chemical composition, diminishing the effectiveness of the roof rejuvenation product.

“We’re utilizing corn and the work of our incredible scientists to create a product that is proven to restore asphalt shingles,” Rotert said. “What better way to bring together farmers, manufacturers and consumers.”

Roof Rejuvenate is ideal for roofs at least five years old. It’s applied through a one-time spray-on treatment by a trained and certified professional. A network of applicators is already available throughout the United States and Canada.
