Owens Corning announced on Tuesday that it will expand shingle manufacturing capacity by adding a new facility in the southeastern United States.

In a news release, OC said the strategic investment will expand the company’s roofing manufacturing network, enhancing its ability to meet the growing demand for its shingles.

“We are focused on offering unmatched value to our customers by providing the premium quality building products and solutions they need to grow their businesses,” Gunner Smith, OC’s roofing president, said.

“Through this investment, and the many investments we have made over the last several years to enhance our manufacturing network, we are expanding our ability to meet the strong demand for Owens Corning shingles,” Smith added.

The new southeast plant will operate a four-wide laminator capable of producing around six million squares per year and is expected to begin production in 2027.

The additional capacity will be used to manufacture high-performing Owens Corning shingles, including Duration series, which feature the company’s patented SureNail technology.

The facility will operate leading technology, including advanced automation, and will create nearly 100 skilled manufacturing jobs. The plant location is expected to be announced later this year.

OC said its new facility will enhance the company’s shingle capacity expansion, which includes process improvements and automation to increase production.

It also involves adding laminate capabilities through a convertible line at the Medina, Ohio facility, which is set to be operational mid-year.

Together, these investments unlock capacity comparable to that of the new southeastern plant. Owens Corning Roofing operates 17 manufacturing facilities in the U.S.

Owens Corning will exhibit at The International Roofing Expo, the largest roofing and exteriors event in North America, Feb. 19-21 at the Henry B. González Convention Center in San Antonio, Texas.
