Eric Rich II, CEO of Rich Roofing in Troy, Ohio, has earned a reputation for quality that spans decades dating back to when his family started the business.

Eric, 40, and brother, Wesley, 38, are partners who grew up in the roofing industry since their father opened the business in 1965.

“Rich Roofing is officially under the corporate name of Rich and Sons, Inc.,” Eric Rich said. “My dad named our company Rich and Sons long before he even had any children. So he must have had the premonition that he would have a couple sons and that they would all be in the family roofing business.”

The Rich brothers are proof that hard work and dedication keeps a good company in the roofing game. The company offers a service department to handle its commercial and residential customers. The company is also a member of Roofers' Success International.

“We not only sell yearly service programs to our residential but we are now supplying these maintenance service agreements to our commercial clients,” he said. “This is where we come in and provide quarterly or yearly inspections that allow us to take a look at the roof condition, perform any kind of small maintenance or cleaning.”

The company recently completed a 1,200 square commercial project that was a shingle job that included a two-layer tear-off. “We have done quite a few residential house roofs this year,” said Eric Rich, who noted that he uses CertainTeed and TAMKO asphalt shingle products. “We install a lot of residential metal as well as commercial and industrial metal projects.”

Eric Rich said his company does “amazing things” to ensure not only that the company is successful but that the employees are successful. “We are very concerned about our client first, team second, and company third,” he said. “We continually work to make sure that the staff and team that we have here are part of a team and that we all work together and that everything we do is built around their success not just the corporation.”

“It’s all about customer service for us and we pride ourselves by being one of the best in the business,” he continued. “We don’t necessarily claim that we want to be the cheapest in the business because we do not sacrifice the quality of our workmanship or our products.”

Rich said 2009 was a down year but the company did see 14 percent growth. “Considering some of the other businesses around us, and the way things are by talking to other business owners, we are real fortunate,” he said. “2010 is forecasted to be similar to 2009, we are not looking for a huge upturn but I think we’ll see some movement.

“All indicators show that 2011 and 2012 are going to be bang-up years,” he continued. “I predict a lot more movement and more money being spent because people will start feeling more secure and they will take care of problems that they have put off.”
