SOLANA BEACH, Calif. - Open Energy Corp. announced today that its SolarSave™ SP 480 roofing membrane has received the prestigious Underwriters Laboratory (UL) 1703 listing, the American National Standard for safety for photovoltaic modules and panels.
SOLANA BEACH, Calif. - Open Energy Corp. announced today that its SolarSave™ SP 480 roofing membrane has received the prestigious Underwriters Laboratory (UL) 1703 listing, the American National Standard for safety for photovoltaic modules and panels. The membranes were also awarded a 790 Class A fire rating, the highest possible rating for fire resistance.
"Our SolarSave roofing membranes are now fully endorsed for use and we are moving immediately to fill the large backlog of pending orders," said the company's executive vice president, Don Rogers. "These two certifications represent a very important development for Open Energy and provide the highest level of validation for the safety and performance of our solar roofing membrane products."
The membranes are a building-integrated solar roofing system created for both new construction and reroofing projects on commercial and residential buildings. To achieve the fire rating, it withstood a 1,400 degrees Fahrenheit, four-foot-wide flame for a 10-minute period. Open Energy is now able to proceed with production and delivery of its current $4 million backlog of orders for the product.
