Like a lot of you out there, I was on vacation last week. We spent a glorious Fourth of July break in northern Michigan. Now that I’m back in the office, I’ve got a bad case of post-vacationitis. It’s that strange disease in which you feel disoriented and overwhelmed by the work that piled up while you were gone. Symptoms include a very full e-mail mailbox, a large stack of papers on your desk, and a blinking message light on your phone.

The only way to beat the post-vacation blues is to put your head down, get to work, and every once in a while start thinking about the next vacation. I’ve found the post-vacation blues aren’t so bad that they’ll prevent you from taking the next one.
