Seeking new challenges, John Patterson entered the roofing industry in 1996 after a 20 year career in retail management. Seemed like a good idea, after all, it rains a lot in the Pacific Northwest. In 2009, after working in various management and ownership positions within the roofing field, John and his wife Kim formed a start from scratch new company, Chinook Roofing & Gutters. The firm has grown to over 120 employees and services both the residential and commercia wholesale markets in Washington State. In late 2018 John began a yearlong process to convert the ownership structure of Chinook into an employee owned entity, making it one of a very few employee owned Roofing companies in the United States. John continues as CEO of Chinook Roofing while he and his wife of 49 years are enjoying travel, charitable work, classic cars, and old movies.
