CALUMET CITY, Ill. — An Illinois-based roofing contractor who Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) investigators claim exposed workers to deadly fall hazards three time within four months now faces a proposed penalty of $277,584.
According to a release, the foreman for Araujo Construction Corp. out of Calumet City, Ill., failed to protect workers from known hazards as they did residential framing work on new homes under construction in Lake Zurich and Wheeling. Workplace safety inspectors identified two willful, four repeat and six serious violations on May 5, Aug. 22 and Sept. 14, 2022.
