Florida Contractor Faces Potential Prison Time for Fall Safety Violations
Contractor's Companies Failed to Pay More Than $2.2 million in OSHA Penalties
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A Florida-based roofing contractor with a long history of exposing workers to the serious and potentially fatal risks related to falls faces possible incarceration for his failure to comply with court orders once again.
The recommendation to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 11th Circuit continues the legal saga of Travis Slaughter — owner of Great White Construction Inc. and Florida Roofing Experts, both in Jacksonville — who has failed to pay $2,202,049 in penalties assessed by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) for more than 48 safety and health violations dating back nearly a decade at Florida worksites.
