Architectural Harmony: Metal Roof Allows New School to Blend With Neighborhood
The new International Magnet School for Global Citizenship has opened in South Windsor, Conn., with the mission of creating a better world through education. As part of the Capitol Region Education Council, the school will foster the education and development of 530 students from pre-kindergarten through fifth grade. CREC is a nonprofit, regional educational organization serving 35 public school districts in the greater Hartford, Conn., area.
Perkins Eastman in Stamford, Conn., designed the school to emphasize and integrate the International Baccalaureate curriculum throughout, according to project architect Joseph Culotta. The International Baccalaureate is a highly respected foundation offering four programs of international education that develop the intellectual, personal, emotional and social skills needed to live, learn and work in a rapidly globalizing world.
