Millennium One-Step Green Foamable Adhesive Contributed to Gaining LEED Silver Certification
Royal Adhesives & Sealants
The Health Services Building complex was a design build project with a focused mission of incorporating sustainable features wherever possible. A major goal in the construction of this building was to earn the prestigious LEED Silver Certification. Including building materials that are “low emitting materials” is a major part of sustainable features and in turn earns the coveted points needed for the LEED certification. Adhesives, sealants, paints, coatings and building materials that are low in Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) fall into this sustainable features category. The inclusion of low-VOC building materials increases the quality of indoor air as well as eliminating the release of harmful vapors into the atmosphere.
The high demand for environmentally green products throughout the construction of this building positioned Royal Adhesives & Sealants to provide an excellent solution for the roof system. The company had to provide an adhesive that was environmentally responsible and also met the engineering specifications. Royal’s Millennium One-Step Green® Foamable Adhesive was specified as the insulation board adhesive because of its high-performance adhesive strength, long-term durability and classification as an environmentally green adhesive. Using this adhesive added additional credit toward gaining LEED Silver Certification on this project.
