Benjamin Obdyke’s SynShield is a slip-resistant synthetic roof underlayment that is lighter and stronger than standard roofing felt, while providing superior protection against water intrusion. The polypropylene underlayment outperforms 30-pound felt in nearly every dimension, including durability, slip resistance, service life, ease of handling, weight, and overall protection from the elements. Since it is produced in wider and longer sections and offers more coverage than felt rolls, SynShield enables the installer to work faster and complete the job in less time, with fewer laps, cuts, and rolls to handle. In addition, its UV resistance and the immediate roof deck protection it provides enable contractors and builders to schedule and start interior work more quickly. Its thickness is 12.5 mils.
