SPRI announced its plans to canvass Performance Standard for Retrofit Drains SPRI RD-1-2002 for approval as an American National Standard.

SPRI, Needham, Mass., the association representing sheet membrane and component suppliers to the commercial roofing industry, announced its plans to canvass Performance Standard for Retrofit Drains SPRI RD-1-2002 for approval as an American National Standard.

This standard, which was developed by SPRI members, is intended as reference for those individuals who design, specify or install retrofit roof drains. The standard was developed by the SPRI Roof Accessories Subcommittee, consisting of representatives from membrane manufacturers, insurance companies, roof drain manufacturers and roofing consultants.

SPRI also announced plans to revise ANSI/SPRI ES-1-1998 Wind Design Standard for Edge Systems Used with Low Slope Roofing Systems. This standard, which was approved in 1998, is intended as reference for those individuals who design, specify, and install edge materials used with low-slope systems. As required by ANSI policy, all National Standards must be re-evaluated every five years.

Finally, SPRI announced the publication of its Safety Guide, a comprehensive manual that provides information on how to avoid common safety problems on the rooftop and in construction areas. For more information, visit www.spri.org.
