GAF Promotes ARMA's Raise the B.A.R. Campaign

GAF continues to reinforce the benefits of asphaltic roofing solutions through sustained support of ARMA’s Raise the B.A.R. campaign.

WAYNE, N.J. – GAF continues to reinforce the benefits of asphaltic roofing solutions through sustained support of ARMA’s Raise the B.A.R. campaign.

The campaign is open to any industry professional who believes in the benefits of asphaltic roofing and who joins ARMA in their desire to Raise the B.A.R. in roofing and celebrate the key attributes of this enduring roofing technology as “Beautiful, Affordable and Reliable.”

In 2010, each of the campaign’s three winning projects featured GAF roofing products. First place was awarded to the Frank M. Johnson Montgomery Courthouse in Montgomery, Ala. Submitted by Advanced Roofing, Inc., the courthouse features multiple roofing materials, including GAF EnergyCap reflective modified bitumen roofing membrane, which helped it to adhere to the strict design criteria required in a historical district while also meeting energy codes.

Mosaic, a luxury multifamily property located in Dallas, Texas, came in second place. Texas Roof Management submitted the project, detailing the many challenges to complete the roofing system, including the removal of four layers of existing roofing, being able to withstand standing water, as well as dealing with difficulty in staging safety requirements during construction. Utilizing GAF’s Liberty self-adhering base/ply sheet and both Ruberoid APP and SBS modified bitumen cap sheets, the unique roof showcases a checkerboard design with the Mosaic logo on the highest roof level.

The Struther’s residence in Raleigh, N.C. came in third place and is the only residential winner in the contest. Completed by Baker Roofing Co., the product drastically transformed the home’s appearance and illustrates how asphalt shingles can make a home’s roof the main attraction.

In 2011, ARMA is again reaching out to roofers, architects, and specifiers across the country to share the advantages of this versatile technology through its 2nd annual Quality Asphalt Roofing Case Study Program (QARC). QARC is a recognition program that gives roofing contractors, consultants and architects the ability to gain national prominence and industry recognition for their work with asphalt roofing. ARMA encourages every roofing professional to enter small residential projects as well as large commercial roofing projects.

“We’re excited to again share the benefits of the QARC program with our customer base. There really is no better way to reinforce the beauty, affordability, and reliability of asphaltic roofing options than through ARMA’s Raise the B.A.R. campaign,” said Lynn Picone, senior product manager at GAF. “It’s a good opportunity for industry professionals and for GAF. The inclusion of our products in all three of last year’s winning projects is a testament to the quality and versatility that GAF products offer the industry.” For more information on submitting projects to the Raise the B.A.R. campaign, visit the ARMA website at www.asphaltroofing.org.
