JOHNSTON, R.I. - FM Global has updated three of its roofing-related Property Loss Prevention Data Sheets. The revised data sheets are 1-28, “Design Wind Loads”; 1-29, “Roof Deck Securement and Above-Deck Roofing Components”; and 1-52, “Field Uplift Tests.” The updates encompass guidelines for improving building performance in hurricane-prone areas. To better support the needs of the roofing industry, FM has provided free online access to the revised data sheets at www.roofnav.com .
The RoofNav Web site is a free, comprehensive, time-saving tool with all the engineering and technical information on more than 6,000 FM approved roofing products and 180,000 roofing assemblies. It also makes available the 15 Property Loss Prevention Data Sheets most often used by the roofing industry. The data sheets comprise hundreds of pages of engineering guidelines based on the organization’s 170 years of property protection research. The site also uses a ratings calculator to determine the proper roof classifications for fire, hail and wind uplift, producing one document that contains all the information contractors need to assemble an FM-approved roof.
