INDIANAPOLIS - Firestone Building Products Company donated $5,000 to the Midwest Roofing Contractors Association (MRCA) Foundation during the MRCA National Convention in Grapevine, Texas. Firestone has now donated more than $70,000 to MRCA Foundation scholarships since 1995.

“We are grateful for Firestone’s latest donation to the MRCA Foundation,” said Bob Swanda, MRCA Foundation President. “Firestone’s financial contributions prove its ongoing commitment to the instruction and training of future roofing professionals.”

Established in 1987, the MRCA Foundation provides financial assistance to students pursuing a career in the construction industry. The MRCA foundation selects its scholarship recipients because of their academic performance, employment experience, demonstrated desire to work in the industry and financial need. The foundation has awarded more than 50 scholarships since its inception.

“Firestone believes quality workmanship starts with quality education and is committed to supporting professional growth in the construction industry,” said Mike Gorey, president of Firestone and chairman, CEO, and President of Bridgestone Firestone Diversified Products. “We are proud to contribute to the MRCA’s ongoing efforts to educate the next generation of roofing industry professionals.”

The Midwest Roofing Contractors Association (MRCA) is an advocacy organization formed by roofing contractors working together to continually improve the roofing industry. Its more than 450 members throughout the United States can take advantage of various benefits and services offered by MRCA, including: free technical, legal and applicator agreement advice; business management forms; a bimonthly magazine; and company listings on the MRCA Web site and in its annual directory.
