ULTRA-Cool coatings are now available on the entire line of standing-seam metal roofing from Custom-Bilt Metals, South El Monte, Calif. Developed by BASF Corp.’s Industrial Coatings Division, the coatings come in 24 colors, including a number of rich, dark finishes that complement a wide variety of architectural styles. The coatings help reduce energy costs by increasing the roof’s reflectivity. BASF’s research shows the coatings achieve a 38.3 percent reflectivity, compared to only 25.2 percent reflectivity for the identical colors with conventional coatings.
