NORWOOD, Mass. — O’LYN Roofing hosted nearly 100 golfers and guests that together raised $10,000 for cancer research in June at the 4th Annual Tom Olen Memorial Golf Outing.

The company started the event in 2013 in honor of Tom Olen, a long-time employee and friend of O'LYN who died after a bout with cancer in 2010.

The Outing included a full day of golf, a barbeque and a raffle at the Brookmeadow Country Club in Canton, Mass. This year, 78 golfers and 96 dinner guests attended.
“We are very grateful to have had such a great turnout at the 4th Annual Tournament”, said Linda Olen, president of O’LYN Roofing and sister-in-law to Tom Olen. “With all contributions, we were able to raise over $10,000 in funds that will go directly to beneficiaries of the Tom Olen Memorial Fund. We could not be happier with the positive impact we will be able to make in our community because of the support we have received.”

All of the proceeds from the golf outing will be donated to cancer research organizations and financially assisting families struggling with cancer or persons in need of organ transplants. This year’s $5,000 scholarship recipient is Nicole Bousquet, a local teen whose father is battling cancer and will attend the University of Massachusetts Amherst in the fall.

“We would like to thank our customers, neighbors and friends for signing up to fight this disease that affects so many of our loved ones,” said Michael Olen, founder of The Fund and brother of Tom Olen. “We hope to continue to make a difference and keep fighting cancer.”
