Coat’N’Cool Products Earn ENERGY STAR Rating

YORBA LINDA, Calif.— Four cool roof products manufactured by Coat’N’Cool have earned an ENERGY STAR rating. Coat’N’Cool is an architectural coating specially engineered to reflect sunlight in the UV, IR and Visible spectrum. It was assembled through the use of water-borne epoxy technology and of Complex Inorganic Compounded Pigments (CICP’s).

ENERGY STAR qualified cool roof products lower roof surface temperature, decreasing the amount of heat transferred into a building and reducing air conditioning costs. According to Coat’N’Cool statistics, a cool roof can lower interior temperatures of a commercial or industrial building by 8-12 degrees during the hottest four hours of a summer day (noon to four in the afternoon), and can cutpeak cooling demand by 10-15 percent.

Sponsored by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, ENERGY STAR promotes use of energy efficient products in all aspects of energy use from high-rise buildings to HVAC systems. The primary mission of ENERGY STAR is to provide unbiased information that helps Americans identify reliable, cost-effective, energy-saving solutions that protect the environment by reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.

Through 2010, more than 20,000 organizations have partnered with the EPA, achieving significant environmental and financial benefits. Americans, with the help of ENERGY STAR, prevented 170 million metric tons of GHG emissions from entering the atmosphere in 2010–– equivalent to the annual emissions from 33 million vehicles—and saved about $18 billion on their utility bills.
