WADSWORTH, Ohio - SOPREMA’s cool roof SopraStar has achieved Energy Star rating. Composed of selected SBS modified bitumen on fiberglass reinforcement with highly reflective white top surface, which maintains high reflectivity and emissivity.

Unlike white granulated and coated cool roof systems, SopraStar’s patented tri-laminate is smooth. The smoothness of the surface permits occasional cleaning without risking the removal of granular surfacing like standard granular surfaced modified bitumen membranes. Additional cost savings can be realized since SopraStar does not require recoating for 3-5 years. Standard granule surfaces could harbor pollutants and promote black algae growth resulting in a reduction of membrane reflectivity. Meeting the Energy Star standards for roofing reflectivity can help earn points in the LEED rating system.
