ROSEMONT, Ill. — Tecta America Corp. has appointed Robert Shaw as director of federal sales. Shaw, a retired Colonel with the U.S. Air Force, brings a combined 39 years of military and industry experience to the position where he will oversee federal, state, local and tribal government relations.

“Bob’s extensive history working with federal accounts combined with his years of service in the U.S. Air Force make him an ideal fit for this position,” said Brynne Smith, president and CEO of Tecta America Corp. “The relationships he’s established and his familiarity with key federal construction and energy procurement contract options make him a valuable addition to the Tecta team.”

Shaw, 57, joins Tecta America from Willdan Energy Solutions in Washington D.C. where he was vice president for federal business. In this role, he was directly responsible for strategic planning, leveraging technology and improving processes for the Federal sales service sector on all energy efficiency and renewable energy related programs and projects.

Prior to joining Willdan Energy Solutions, Shaw held the position of federal accounts, government markets programs specialist for Carlisle SynTec in Washington, D.C. He has also held federal account positions with Constellation Energy in Baltimore and Florida Power & Light in West Palm Beach, Fla.

Shaw’s extensive military career spanned 32 years, beginning with his 1973 enlistment in the Air Force. His wide range of experiences and military assignments included command responsibilities in Panama and Southwest Asia; flight and squadron command; wing executive officer, Air Staff and MAJCOM director, Air Staff division chief and Pentagon staff program element monitor. In 2005, Shaw retired at the rank of Colonel.

Shaw holds a master’s degree in public administration from Shippensburg University and is also a graduate of the U.S. Army War College and the U.S. Air Force War College. He has received numerous awards including the Department of Defense, Exceptional Public Service Award and the Department of Health and Human Services, Inspector General’s Exceptional Achievement Award and Air Force Space Command’s Officer of the year. He will be based in Washington D.C. where he lives with his wife.
